LUG Softball Season Kicks off Sunday!

Welcome to the Inaugural season of LUG Softball!

Not much has changed since we launched LUG Hockey in 2009....intramurals is still a joke, Ale is still over-capacity by 10 pm, and someone will always hit a horse on Homecoming and go viral. Well not much has changed, until now...

To fill the September sport void and the complete lack of baseball on campus (sorry Varsity...) LUG has launched our very first Softball League. So grab your Big League Chew, Spitz, Cracker Jacks, and assemble the Peanut Gallery...This. Is. Going. To. Be. BIG.

Before the season starts we want everyone to have the full season details so you know what to expect. Take a read through carefully and if you have any questions, send them over to your local Aberdeen Commissioners...Cam, Liam, Anthony, and Cody.

Let's start with the most obvious, yet most important....

DRUGS & ALCOHOL
There is absolutely no drugs, alcohol, or drunken behaviour allowed at the Diamond. Banned substances also include, chew/dip.

LUG has a zero tolerance policy for infractions. Any team in violation will be kicked from the league without refunds. The City of Kingston also takes these violations very seriously and will cancel rentals for groups that do not abide by the City rules.

REGISTRATION
Not everyone will receive this gloriously long email. If your teammates have not registered for the season, they will not be on our mailing list. FORWARD THIS TO YOUR TEAM. Registration link is below

PAYMENTS
Payments are due September 15th. Any team not fully paid is removed from the schedule. Any missed games are considered defaults.

Each team is expected to have 12 players. If you have fewer than 12 players, your team must pay equivalent to 12 players.

AAA = $1,200 + HST
COED = $800 + HST

JERSEYS
Every team will receive a set of Aberdeen team uniforms. These jerseys are absolutely sick. We hope to see them out at the bars, homecoming, and across campus!

12 uniforms (various sizes). No substitutes or extras.
Jerseys are handed out based on who registers their full team the fastest...if you want those St. Pat's colours, act fast!

The 1st shipment (12 sets) have arrived. The 2nd shipment (10 sets) will arrive Wednesday.

EQUIPMENT
LUG will provide ALL the equipment needed to play, except gloves.

Bats, balls, bases, helmets, catchers equipment (AAA only)

Teams are welcome and encouraged to bring additional bats and balls to the diamond.

SCHEDULE
The 1st week schedule is on the LUG website, viewable here. Games are located at Victoria Park or Memorial Centre. The season is short and sweet so be sure to check your schedule in advance. Full schedule will be posted by EOD Sunday.

STATS & GAME RESULTS

Captains from the winning team are expected to email the score of their game to Cody - csmith@lughockey.com.
Scores are due within 24 hours of each game
Captains can choose to submit a stats form for their team stats to be input online. Cody will provide this to each captain.

WELCOME PACKAGE
In addition to the team jerseys, every player in Softball will receive a pair of LUG Sunglasses, a LUG Baseball Cap, and a Member Card (images below). Membership cards are ready on Game 1, glasses & caps will be ready later in September.

Captains also receive a special LUG KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE FLAGfor your house.

SOCIAL
Softball is shaping up to be a great time, we encourage everyone to invite their friends out to the park to watch the dingers, strikeouts, and most likely, a huge number of errors. With that in mind, the rules against Alcohol & Drugs apply to all spectators.

RAIN OUTS & SUNDOWNS
LUG plays rain or shine. We will cancel or reschedule games for lightning or torrential downpours only. Additional diamond time has been booked to cover rain outs. In the event of a rain or games being called due to sundown, we will reschedule to a Saturday or Sunday in end of September. Teams may play 2 times that day.

Softball is a game with lots of rules and some discrepancies may arise during the course of a game. Any disagreement should be discussed by the captains in the spirit of good sportsmanship.

CLEAN UP
A friendly reminder to leave the park the way you found it. Free of garbage and trash. Let's be good neighbours for the city.
