Season Starts Next Week (WLU, CU, UWO, WU, MAC, BU)

The Road to the WAG Cup Starts NOW.

The puck drops on LUG Hockey's largest season ever next week. Divisions at Laurier, Western, Brock, McMaster, University of Windsor, and Carelton/Ottawa U start off on either Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, reference your schedule for your start date. This is the largest year of LUG yet and game-in, game-out we know the stands will be full of scouties and rockets.

Before the season starts, we have a few important things to let you guys know on our new partnerships, LUG's Code of Conduct, and details on the Road to the WAG, LUG's year end Memorial Cup style Tournament.

Make Note - ALL players must register before stepping on the ice for game #1.

Code of Conduct & Alcohol Policy

The Cities of Kingston, Waterloo, Windsor, London, Ottawa, St Catharines, Hamilton etc AND LUG Hockey have a ZERO tolerance policy for alcohol, drugs, and reckless behaviour at the rinks.

The Cities have made it clear that if anyone is caught drinking at the rink or on the bench they will cancel ice. LUG is going to be being watched very closely due to issues in previous years and it would obviously be a pretty huge sewer if LUG got shut down.

The rule is simple. Play puck at the rink, leave the party to the bars. Any team caught for an infraction below will be kicked out of the league with no refund.

Drinking at the rink, in the room, on the bench etc
Dipping on the ice
Drunk players or coaches on the bench
Smoking in the rooms
Urinating anywhere other than the men's rooms

We know this rule sucks but we can't jeopardize everyone's season for a couple of guys who don't listen. We appreciate your understanding in this.

Breaking Up A Big Division

Given the record breaking size of some divisions, we are open to the possibility of splitting the group into A & B Divisions. Any teams or captains concerned about getting pumped each night should email us, hello@lughockey.com to let us know. If your squad would want to play in a B division let us know!

If there are A & B divisions, this is how it would work.

Two separate set of standings. B Division teams will play 75% against B division, 25% cross-over games against lowest A division teams. Top 2 teams in B would advance to A division playoffs for a chance to play in the WAG. We can move teams mid-season if we are seeing competitive imbalances. Nothing would be set in stone, we'll do what makes sense.

Jerseys & Welcome Package

Jerseys for most leagues were ordered in advance. However, given the size of the leagues and late new additions (BU) we have rushed an order some squads. Most teams with then have jerseys at Week 2. All sets are 15 + 1 G.

If you have specific questions about your jerseys, head to our staff page and contact your local commissioner.

Each team will receive a welcome package that includes custom LUG gym bags and a mix of hats and visors. Stay tuned...

Custom Team T-Shirts

New for this season are our Custom Bar Down team T-shirts. Teams can order a set of shirts created with your LUG Team's name and colours so you can rep your squad at the bar, the gym, and on Tinder Dates. The photo is an example of the Liquor Falcons from St. George.

Team shirts must be ordered in a set of 16 and cost $320 for the set.

The WAG CUP

The most un-extraordinary trophy in all of university sports is up for grabs in March. The 3rd Annual WAG CUP will take place in London on March 24th, 2018. The finals will be on Western Campus, Thompson Arena @ 8pm. The winning teams of all LUG divisions will be invited to London for an all-inclusive weekend of hockey and partying. All players who present their PLUG card will receive free entry to all events.

Since The College Alecoholics lost the WAG Cup last year (nice job lads), we will be getting a newer, bigger, and easier to drink out of Cup for the boys this year.

Even if your team doesn't make it to the WAG, this promises to be the best rip of the season and we encourage all teams to make the trip to London. If there is interest, we will organize buses for players, girlfriends, and friends to London for the weekend.
